“EN VAZHI VINVELI”
I would like to share through this book about the dream that kept me awake in accordance with the words of former President Abdul Kalam who said “Dream is not that which you see while sleeping it is something that does not let you sleep.”
In the life of every human being on this earth, from the early ages, what is above this earth? What would it look like? The astonishment and wonder about the space remains with them till today. The truth is that just as we cannot see children and teenagers who do not have the desire to become an astronaut and to travel to the space. No matter how much the desire to go to space is great, without knowing how to achieve that goal, that dream, like space, is far away for many students.
Born in an ordinary village called Allinagaram in India and to daily wage labor parents, I came from a family background where there was no way or financial means to do so, and with such a distant dream of space, I aspired to go to Mars and the Moon at an early age. As a woman, I faced all the challenges in this society, graduated from the Air Force University of Ukraine with a first class degree in Specialist Technician of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, was the only person from India to participate in the International Astronaut Training in 2019, and became the first woman in the Military Institute of Aviation Medicine of Poland, to travel on a Soyuz MS rocket of Russia. With no internet access and no family background to advise, when I was in class 10th and 12th in school, when I won the first prize in a state-level essay competition conducted by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and went to ISRO to receive the award, the rocket was there. And marveled at the manufacture of satellites and rockets, I definitely made up my mind to become an astronaut.
I have written in this book about my journey towards my dream of becoming an astronaut through India after being trained and becoming the first Indian to achieve that feat. I have told in this book how this society has supported me at every stage of my training course and how it has brought me along by providing its financial support, seeing the depth of my ideal and its inspiration when I had no financial means to pursue this space dream of mine.
I have consciously recorded in this book all the situations that I have encountered in my dreams towards space for the past 8 years. In particular, this book is full of scientific and technical information with exclusive training pictures about how I conducted the ten different astronaut training in Poland, the purpose of each training, the difficulties of the training, its methods, the qualifications to take training, and the benefits obtained from the training. Students who are waiting with dreams of becoming an astronaut can learn in detail in this book the efforts they need to make and the things they need to do from school age, the fields they need to choose for further studies, and the training they need to take after that.
There is no doubt that this book will give inspiration and confidence to even students and youths like me who come from rural and economically disadvantaged family background to dream and achieve lofty dreams of reaching space.
